Safe Horizon
Following up its feasibility study for Safe Horizon, a large human service provider, SHCC was chosen to work closely with the agency’s administrative, clinical and fiscal leadership in restructuring its mental health clinic.
Results:
With SHCC’s guidance Safe Horizon did the following:
- Established a new clinical staffing model combining salaried and per diem therapists into a cohesive staff with a shared vision
- Shifted program emphasis to short-term, goal-focused, functional improvement
- Created an enhanced infrastructure to maximize third-party reimbursement, including real-time data collection and retrieval, reporting and monitoring systems, and new billing and collection protocols
- Developed areas of expertise such as crisis intervention and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy
- Repositioned the Counseling Center within Safe Horizon as the agency’s hub of clinical expertise and established stronger collaboration among agency divisions
- Reoriented the clinic’s work culture to be both clinically sound and business-oriented
During the first year of implementation the Counseling Center dramatically improved its billings and collections, established state-of-the-art best clinical practices and met aggressive revenue targets through increased therapist productivity and patient volume.
